 aims

We generate public involvement around the nexus of exhibitions, screenings, publications and online networking activity both locally and internationally, particularly focusing on global South and European artists’ moving image but including other transnational partnerships and participants.

To foster new approaches to the curating of lens-based media art by sustained dialogue with our associate partners across world regions.

To promote and showcase new talent in artists’ film, essay film, experimental documentary, video installation and photography.

To support dialogue between different strands of filmmaking in current new media trends, taking into account the geo-political differences in our production systems and environmental contexts.

To encourage exchange between art critics, commissioning editors, curators, artists, filmmakers, film and art historians and cultural theorists.

To review the ways in which the funding, commissioning and exhibition of lens based media operates in today’s globalized arts culture.

To challenge art historical canons where the perspectives of certain groups have been marginalized.
